Royal Ratchaphruek: Hearts for Our Loving King Festival The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, will celebrate the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King’s 84th Birthday Anniversary 5th December 2010 by organizing “Royal Ratchaphruek: Hearts for Our Loving King Festival.” It will be held on 30th November - 10th December at the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, Mae Hia subdistrict, Muang district, Chiang Mai province.

More than ten organizations will join this event, which will have both indoor and outdoor international garden exhibitions, a building devoted to insects of the world, and herbal and floral displays, as well as an orchid competition. Twenty-two countries have responded that they will join the festival, such as Japan, the Netherlands, Morocco, Bhutan, and South Africa.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand will bring Lin Ping, the lovely panda cub that is the star attraction of Chiang Mai Zoo, to promote this festival, and there will be many highlights to attract tourists. The government expects an average of 20,000 visitors per day, with over 200,000 visitors during this 11-day festival, and hopes to stimulate Chiang Mai’s economy and tourism at the same time.
