 The River Kwai Bridge WeekEach year in late November to early December, the world famous River Kwai Bridge built by Allied prisoners-of-war during World War II, becomes the focal point of celebrations.
To commemorate the tragic history of the railway and to promote the tourism of Kanchanaburi province, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the State Railway jointly hold the annual festival of “The River Kwai Bridge Week” from 25 November to 8 December 2009 in the area around the bridge.
The festival features a historical exhibition, fun fair, bazaar, and enticing light and sound presentation.
